Matt Hucke has explored and photographed over 1,100 graveyards, cemeteries, and mausoleums since 1995, most of them in Illinois. His website,graveyards.com, began in August, 1996, with a mere 12 featured cemeteries, each with three to ten photos. As of 2013, the site now has over 10,000 photos, comprehensive listings of all known cemeteries in Illinois, and mapping tools used by genealogists, researchers, and taphophiles throughout the state.
